13 Ways to Better Manage your Anxiety

Anxiety can be tricky to deal with sometimes. It can sneak up on you at any given moment. So, here’s a list of ways to better manage your anxiety when it comes into your life in excess:

  • Take deep breaths
    Take long deep breaths in through the nose and slowly out through the mouth
  • Practice mindfulness
    Be mindful while you’re doing everyday activities
  • Practice grounding
    Awareness of self
  • Understand cognitive distortions
    Realize distortions are warped from the truth and they are unhelpful, unhealthy, and unrealistic
  • Meditate
    Guided meditations are really helpful for me
  • Get a good night’s sleep
    7 to 8 hours
  • Positive self talk
    Talk nicely to yourself
  • Take your medication
    Consistency is key
  • Re-framing
    Turning negative statements into more neutral ones
  • Assertive communication
    Don’t be aggressive but not passive either
  • Thought stopping
    Take a pause

    Get your safety and security goals met
