I started some new medications and I wanted to share them with you. I’ve only been on this new medication for a week or so. But I believe they are working so far.
My psychiatric nurse practitioner replaced my Xanax with Klonopin, .5 mg up to twice daily. It works within a half an hour for me and lasts practically until the evening. I’ve been taking this one for a couple of weeks now and it seems to be helping with my anxiety. It makes me a little sleepy but I think that is a good thing. The side effects are easing up though so I am not as tired when I take it now.
I was also put on Cymbalta to replace Lexapro. This happen when I was in the hospital for the second time. I started out on 30 mg and then was increased to 60 mg. I am still taking 10 mg of Lexapro every night to help with withdraw symptoms. But that will end in about another week. This medication is for my depression. My doctor told me that it impacts both nor-epinephrine and serotonin levels instead of just one or the other. I’ve only been on this one for about a week now but I think it is helping with my suicidal thoughts. I was feeling good. However, now I am getting really sad again. I’m not sure it’s working for my depression yet.
I have also upped my dose of Latuda again. It has been changed from 80 mg to 120 mg. This has been helpful in decreasing my voices and visual hallucinations. They haven’t gone away completely but they are happening less often and with less intensity.
I am feeling more hopeful after my medication adjustments. I was starting to feel like nothing was ever going to change but they did and I am feeling a little better now. I still have a long way to go though.
